How to play Area 88 online

Press Enter to start the game. On the title screen use Arrow Keys to move and X to confirm your selection. The game has a character select where you choose between three pilots each with a different starting weapon loadout - your choice affects how your main gun behaves. Once in the action, use Arrow Keys to move your plane and S to fire your main gun. Hold S for rapid fire. Press X to drop a bomb or use your special weapon if you have one. The core loop is simple: shoot everything that moves, collect the floating P icons to power up your gun, and avoid taking hits. One hit loses a life. The game scrolls vertically automatically so you only need to dodge and aim. When you see a red flashing enemy, take it out for a weapon upgrade. Enemies often come from the sides of the screen so keep an eye on the edges. Menus are in Japanese but the character select is intuitive - just pick the middle option for a balanced loadout if you are unsure.
