Home Alone (USA) (Beta)
Getting to Know Home Alone (USA) (Beta)
This is a beta build of Home Alone for the Sega Genesis, a sidescrolling platformer based on the 1990 holiday movie of the same name. The official version hit shelves in 1991, published by THQ and developed by Imagineering. This pre-release build gives a peek into what early testers saw before the final game shipped.
You control Kevin McCallister through a series of side-scrolling levels, avoiding the Wet Bandits, Marv and Harry. The core loop involves jumping over obstacles, collecting items like tools and food, and setting traps to slow down the burglars. The beta likely lacks some polish and final content, but the basic mechanics are in place.
For retro collectors and fans of movie tie-ins, this beta is a neat time capsule. It shows off an earlier version of a game that was already simple but charming. If you have seen the final Genesis release, you might spot differences here. It is worth a quick play to appreciate how licensed games came together on the system.
How to Play Home Alone (USA) (Beta) Online
Press Enter to start the game. You take control of Kevin in a side-scrolling neighborhood. The D-Pad moves him left and right; X makes him jump over hazards or onto platforms. S lets you interact with objects or attack enemies when you are close.
Your goal is to survive each stage until the time runs out or you reach the end. You can collect items like batteries or marbles to set traps for the Wet Bandits. Watch your health bar at the top of the screen. If the burglars catch you, you lose health. Grab food items to restore it. Experiment with the environment to find the best way to slow them down.
