Altered Beast with Arcade Voice Samples

What you actually do in the game remains the same as the original Genesis release. You move left to right through five stages, punching and kicking undead enemies like skeletons and demons. Every few levels you collect spirit balls to power up, eventually transforming into a werewolf, a dragon, or one of the other beasts. Each form has different attacks, and you fight a boss at the end of each stage. The core loop is simple: walk forward, fight, transform, fight harder enemies.

For fans of the arcade original, this hack is the best way to experience Altered Beast on the Genesis without the awkward voice work. It's not a deep or long game - you can finish it in under an hour - but it's a nice preservation effort that fixes one of the biggest complaints about the home port.
