Dragon Buster
What is Dragon Buster?
Dragon Buster originally hit arcades in 1985, courtesy of Namco. It was one of those hybrid action role-playing platformers that blended sword-swinging combat with light RPG progression. The MSX port brought this experience home, letting Japanese gamers tackle the same monster-filled dungeons on their computer monitors. If you were around for the early days of action RPGs, this one might ring a bell.
How to Play Dragon Buster Online
Getting started is straightforward. You take control of a warrior who must clear each stage by defeating enemies and collecting keys to open doors. The core loop involves moving through side-scrolling levels, hacking away at bats, slimes, and dragons with your sword, and climbing ladders to reach higher platforms. Each area ends with a boss - usually a dragon - that you need to slay to progress.
The MSX version is Japanese, so menus and any text will be in Japanese. However, the gameplay is so immediate that language is hardly a barrier. Just keep moving right, fight everything, and watch for hidden bonuses. Stamina and health are limited, so avoid getting cornered. The game is tough but fair, typical of arcade ports of the era.
