Senjyo
Inside Senjyo
You control a ship at the bottom of the screen, moving left and right while firing upward at descending enemy formations. The screen is static; enemies come in predictable patterns, and your job is to dodge their shots and eliminate them before they reach you. Power-ups may appear, but without confirmed details there's not much more to say - it's a pure skill-based arcade challenge.
For fans of early shooters like Space Invaders or Galaxian, Senjyo offers a similar but distinct experience. It's not a landmark title, but it's a solid example of Tehkan's early work before they became known for other arcade hits. If you enjoy minimalist, punishing shooters, it's worth a few credits to see how it plays.
How to Play Senjyo Online
Getting Started
When you start Senjyo on MSX 1, you'll see a title screen likely in Japanese. Press Enter to start. If there's a menu, you may need to use Arrow Keys and S to confirm, or X to jump (though in a shooter, X might not do anything). The main action is straightforward: move your ship with Arrow Keys and fire with S (B button). There's no complex story - just survive as long as you can.
The core loop is simple: enemies appear from the top in waves, and you must shoot them before they reach your ship. Some enemies fire back, so you'll need to dodge while aiming. There's no scrolling; each screen is a self-contained battle. After clearing a wave, the next one begins. Your score increases with each kill, and the game ends when you lose all lives. The challenge ramps up as enemy patterns become denser.
Since this is a Japanese-only release, menus are in Japanese. If you see options like スタート (start) or コンティニュー (continue), you can guess their meaning. The game itself doesn't require reading - just shoot and avoid. For a newcomer, focus on learning enemy patterns and not getting cornered. It's a pure reflex test.
