Guardic
About Guardic
Guardic is an early shoot 'em up released for the MSX 1 in 1986. It was published by Sega in Japan, marking one of their earlier efforts on the platform. The game fits into the space shooter genre common to the era, drawing clear inspiration from arcade classics.
The player controls a spaceship at the bottom of a fixed screen, firing upward at descending waves of alien craft. Enemies move in formation and occasionally dive toward you, and you can dodge sideways to avoid their shots. The goal is to survive each wave and destroy all enemies to progress, with the difficulty ramping up as you go.
Guardic is a competent but straightforward shooter that captures the feel of 80s arcade action. It's not particularly deep or innovative, but it executes the formula well and offers a decent challenge. For MSX collectors or fans of early Sega games, it's worth a quick play to see how the genre evolved.
How to Play Guardic Online
When you start Guardic, you'll see a title screen in Japanese. Press Enter to begin. The game immediately throws you into action: your ship is at the bottom, and aliens descend from above. Use the Arrow Keys to move left and right, and press the attack button (B button mapped to S) to fire.
The core loop is simple: destroy all aliens in a wave to advance. Watch out for enemy projectiles and try not to let any aliens reach the bottom. There are no continues, so you'll need to make each life count. The controls are responsive, and the game's challenge ramps up quickly. If you're new to retro shooters, start with a slow rhythm and learn enemy patterns.
