Getting Started

In Final Mahjong, you play a standard game of mahjong solitaire. The goal is to clear the board by selecting matching pairs of tiles. Only tiles that are free (not blocked on either side and not covered by another tile) can be chosen. Use the D-pad to move a cursor over the tile you want, then press the confirm button (X mapped to A) to select it. Select a second matching tile to remove the pair from the layout.

If the game uses Japanese menus, you will see terms like "スタート" (Start) and "ゲーム開始" (Begin Game). The core loop involves repeatedly finding matches until all tiles are gone. You can usually undo a move or shuffle the remaining tiles if you get stuck. Keep an eye on the layout and plan ahead - the order you remove tiles can open up new matches or trap pieces.

Since this is a MSX 1 title, the graphics are simple and the interface is text-heavy. If you know basic mahjong tile sets, the game is easy to pick up. The challenge comes from the layout and the limited number of shuffles or undos. Take your time and avoid rushing through selections.
