Elevator Action
What is Elevator Action?
Your mission starts at the top of a 30-story building. You must work your way down by using elevators and stairwells, collecting secret documents from special rooms marked with a red door. Enemy agents pop out of other doors and try to shoot you. The goal is to grab all documents and then reach the ground floor to escape in a waiting car. You can shoot back and use the elevators to avoid or dispatch foes.
For modern players, this is a solid example of early arcade-to-home conversions. The gameplay is straightforward and addictive, with a clear objective and escalating tension. While the MSX version isn't as polished as the arcade original, it holds up as a fun action-puzzle hybrid that rewards timing and quick reflexes. It's a nice piece of gaming history worth a look if you enjoy classic Taito titles.
How to Play Elevator Action Online
Getting Started
When you start Elevator Action on MSX 1, you're dropped at the top of a building. Your immediate task is to move downward using the elevators and staircases. Use the arrow keys to move left/right and enter doors. Press the X button to jump (useful for dodging enemies) and S to shoot your gun.
The core loop involves exploring each floor, opening doors to collect red document envelopes. Enemy agents emerge from blue doors and will shoot at you. You can shoot them back, but they respawn. The elevators are key: you can ride them up/down, and they can crush enemies if you time it right. Your goal is to collect all documents and then reach the ground floor exit.
If you are playing the Japanese version, menus will be in Japanese. The title screen shows a single start option - press Enter to begin. There are no language barriers during gameplay. A tip for new players: don't rush; observe enemy patterns and use elevators to your advantage. The game ends when you lose all lives, so be careful near doors.
