About Survival Kids 2 - Dasshutsu!! Futago Shima!

Survival Kids 2 - Dasshutsu!! Futago Shima! is a Japan-exclusive sequel to the original Survival Kids, released for the Game Boy Color in 2000. Developed and published by Konami, this game is a survival adventure that tasks players with escaping a pair of remote islands. It's a direct follow-up to the cult classic that introduced many to the concept of crafting and wilderness survival on a handheld console. You control a young boy or girl stranded on the Twin Islands after a shipwreck. The core gameplay revolves around exploring the environment, gathering resources like wood, stone, and plants, and then combining them to craft tools, weapons, and shelter. Fishing, hunting, and cooking are essential to manage your hunger and energy levels. The game has a day-night cycle and weather effects that impact your survival. The ultimate goal is to uncover the secrets of the islands and find a way to escape by building a raft or signaling for help. This title still holds up today as a deeply engaging survival sim, especially for fans of the genre. Its pixel art is charming, and the balancing act of resource management against the clock is tense. While it never left Japan, fan translations make it accessible to English speakers. It's a niche gem that paved the way for later survival-crafting games on handhelds, and it's worth trying for anyone curious about the origins of the genre on the Game Boy Color.

How to play Survival Kids 2 - Dasshutsu!! Futago Shima! online

You start on a beach with nothing. Your first priority is to gather wood, stones, and branches from the surrounding area. Use the D-pad to move, press X to examine or pick up items, and press S to cancel or use tools. Check the menu with Start - in the Japanese version, look for icons like a bag (items) or a person (status). You'll need to craft a basic axe or knife to chop trees and cut grass for materials. Always keep an eye on your hunger and fatigue meters; eating raw food is risky, so learn to build a fire and cook meat from fish or game. The islands are split into multiple screens, each with different resources and hazards. You build a base camp, then venture deeper to find new recipes and tools. Stick to explored areas until you have better equipment. The game saves progress via a password system, so note down any password shown on screen. Expect to restart a few times as you learn what works. Patience and experimentation are key.
