Slither Link (J) [M]
Slither Link (J) [M] on WS
Slither Link is a logic puzzle game that originated in Japan, released for the WonderSwan handheld in 2000. Published by Bandai, this title is part of a series of brain-teasing games that found a natural home on the platform. It stays true to the classic puzzle concept created by Nikoli, offering a simple but deep challenge that fits perfectly on the small screen.
The goal is to draw a single continuous loop on a grid of dots. Each cell in the grid contains a number from 0 to 3, and that number tells you how many of its four edges are part of the loop. The loop must never branch or touch itself except at the dots. You connect dots with your stylus or D-pad, and the game checks if the loop satisfies all numeric clues. It's a pure logic puzzle with no time pressure, letting you work at your own pace.
Slither Link on WonderSwan is a faithful adaptation of a well-known pen-and-paper puzzle. It doesn't add flashy effects or a story, but it doesn't need to. For fans of logic puzzles, it's a solid way to enjoy the challenge on a portable device. The grid sizes range from small to large, so you can ease into the mechanics or jump into harder puzzles. It's a niche title, but among WonderSwan's library, it stands as a clean example of the platform's strong puzzle game lineup.
How to Play Slither Link (J) [M] Online
Getting Started
When you boot the game, you are greeted with a title screen. Press Start to proceed. The menu is in Japanese, but you can navigate using the D-pad and confirm with the X button. Select "Puzzle" to start a new game. You will see a grid of dots and a number in each cell. The goal is to draw a single loop that follows the numeric clues.
Move the cursor over a dot, then press X to draw a line from that dot to an adjacent dot. This connects the dots and starts forming the loop. If you make a mistake, move the cursor over the line or the cell and press S to erase it. The game does not provide hints, so you must solve each puzzle by logic alone. There is no time limit, so take your time.
Once you complete a puzzle, the game will flash a success message and let you move to the next level. The puzzles increase in difficulty as you progress. For beginners, start with the smallest grids (5x5 or 7x7) to learn the rules. The loop must never touch itself except at the starting dot, and all numbers must be satisfied. If you get stuck, you can start over by pressing Start and selecting the restart option from the menu.
