Getting Started

When the game boots, you'll see a title screen. Press Start to reach the main menu, where options are written in Japanese. The first option is usually "New Game" (スタート). Select it with the A button (X key). You'll then choose a scenario or save file. Since this is a strategy RPG, the core loop involves deploying your units on a grid map, moving them with the D-Pad, and executing attacks or special abilities using the A and B buttons.

Begin by selecting a mission from the available list. You're given a set of mobile suits and a map. Your goal is to defeat all enemy units while keeping your own alive. Victory earns you new mobile suits and experience for your pilots. The game uses a rock-paper-scissors style damage system: melee beats ranged, ranged beats special, etc. Keep an eye on your unit's HP and morale. Because menus are in Japanese, you may need to consult a guide or memorized button patterns, but the interface is consistent: A to confirm, B to cancel, and the top option is usually the intended choice.
