Getting started is straightforward once you understand the menus are entirely in Japanese. At the title screen, press the A button (X key) to proceed to the main menu. Use the D-Pad to navigate and confirm with A.

Battles play out on a grid map. You control a squad of SD Gundam units, moving them one at a time within their movement range. When next to an enemy, select "Attack" (the command will typically be highlighted or have a sword icon) and choose your weapon. The game calculates damage based on stats, terrain, and weapon type. After all your units act, the enemy phase begins. The core loop is clear missions, earn new mobile suits and pilots, and build your force. Since everything is in Japanese, take note of attack range indicators (often colored squares) to avoid overextending.

A key hint: watch for weapon icons and AP cost. Each unit has multiple attacks, and stronger ones consume more energy. Replenish energy at bases (usually captured by moving onto them and selecting "Capture"). Don't rush - defeating all enemies is rarely the only objective; check by holding Select (V key) to view mission conditions, though the text will be untranslated.
