Neon Genesis Evangelion Shito Ikusei

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Shito Ikusei is a simulation game released for the WonderSwan in 1999, exclusively in Japan. It was published by Bandai, drawing on the popular anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. The title translates to 'Angel Raising,' which gives a strong hint about its core premise. This is an official retail release, not a hack or fan translation, though the [M] in the filename may indicate a modified ROM version. Players take on the role of a caretaker responsible for raising a Shito, or Angel, from infancy. The gameplay revolves around scheduling activities, managing stats, and making choices that influence the Angel's growth and eventual outcome. It shares structural similarities with other raising sims of the era, like Princess Maker, but with an Evangelion-themed twist. The interface is entirely in Japanese, so some familiarity with the language or a guide is helpful for navigating menus and understanding event triggers. As a WonderSwan title, Shito Ikusei stands out for blending a niche genre with a major anime license on a handheld that saw limited Western exposure. It is worth trying for Evangelion completionists or fans of simulation games who enjoy stat management and branching narratives. The game is not action-oriented, so players expecting combat or exploration should look elsewhere. Its low-key appeal lies in discovering how different choices lead to various endings, a hallmark of the raising sim genre.
