Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on Sega CD is an adaptation of the first season of the TV show that originally landed on cartridges like Genesis and SNES in 1994. This disc-based version brings the same side-scrolling beat 'em up action to Sega's CD add-on, though concrete details about its development team are scarce. It belongs to the wave of multimedia tie-ins that tried to cash in on the Power Rangers craze, and it sticks close to the licensed formula of the era. You control one of the five rangers - or possibly the Green Ranger depending on platform - as you fight through waves of putties and monsters across levels lifted from the series. The core loop is straightforward: walk right, punch and kick enemies, jump over obstacles, and take down a boss at the end of each stage. Special attacks and occasional upgrades break up the repetition, but the game leans heavily on simple arcade-style combat without much depth. Today this entry is worth a look if you're curious about early Sega CD licensed titles or a dedicated Ranger fan. It doesn't reinvent the wheel - it's a basic but functional beat 'em up that captures the show's aesthetic in pixel art. Compared to the cartridge versions, the Sega CD release might have CD audio tracks and slightly different pacing, but don't expect a hidden gem. It's a straightforward piece of 90s license gaming.

How to play Mighty Morphin Power Rangers online

First, press Start to get past the title screen - if the game prompts you for a language or mode, use the D-Pad to navigate and X to confirm. You'll likely pick a single Ranger to play as, though some versions let a second player join in (not guaranteed here). Once the stage loads, move right using Arrow Keys and mash S to attack basic enemies. Jump with X over pits or to hit airborne foes. The core loop is simple: clear each stage of enemies, avoid hazards, and beat the end-level boss. Your Ranger has a limited health bar but can grab the occasional health pickup. Special moves (like a jump kick or a team-up attack) might be mapped to Z or A, so try those if you feel stuck. On the Sega CD version, the music and cutscenes might play from the disc, so don't skip them on a first playthrough - they're part of the licensed charm. If you die, you'll get a few continues, but the game is short, so treat each run as a quick arcade session.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers FAQ

Who developed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers?

The development team for the Sega CD version isn't widely documented. The cartridge releases for Sega platforms were published by Sega and produced by Banpresto, but it's unclear if those same teams handled the CD port.

Does Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have a multiplayer or co-op mode?

Information is scarce on whether the Sega CD version supports two players simultaneously. The cartridge versions on Genesis and SNES offer cooperative play, but the CD release may have cut that feature - better check the in-game menu for a 2P option.

Is Mighty Morphin Power Rangers exclusive to SEGA CD or did it appear on other systems?

This game is not exclusive to Sega CD. It also appeared on Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, and Game Gear in 1994, each with slight differences in visuals and content.
