Jurassic Park on SEGA CD arrived in 1993, riding the wave of the blockbuster film. It was one of several tie-in games released that year, developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega for the add-on drive that extended the Genesis/Mega Drive. This version leans into the SEGA CD's enhanced storage, offering a mix of action and exploration rather than a strict adaptation of the movie's story. You play as Dr. Alan Grant, stranded on Isla Nublar after the park's security systems fail. The core gameplay alternates between navigating overhead map areas to find key items and side-scrolling sequences where you run, jump, and shoot dinosaurs with tranquilizer darts or other weapons. The SEGA CD allowed for redbook audio and digitized backgrounds, but the mechanics stay true to early 90s action-adventure design - collect items, unlock doors, and survive encounters with raptors and other threats. For retro fans, this version stands out because of its CD-quality soundtrack and a handful of full-motion video snippets that add atmosphere. It's not the most polished Jurassic Park game, but it offers a decent challenge and a different feel from the cartridge-based Genesis or Super NES ports. Worth a look if you want to see how developers used the SEGA CD's extra space back in 1993.

How to play Jurassic Park online

When you start the game, you begin at the Jurassic Park visitor center. Your first goal is to explore the surrounding jungle areas and locate key items like a jeep key, security cards, or tools that let you progress. The game uses a password save system, so be sure to write down the codes shown after certain milestones. Combat is straightforward: use the B button to fire your tranquilizer darts or other weapons, and the A button to interact with objects or jump. Raptors are fast and aggressive, so don't stay still for long. Listen for audio cues - dinosaur roars often signal an imminent threat. Puzzles are mostly environmental, such as using a thermal scanner to find hidden heat signatures or activating power systems. The overhead map screen helps you navigate between different sectors of the island. If you get stuck, try revisiting locations after obtaining new items, as the game has some light backtracking elements.
