Super Real Mahjong - Premium Collection is a compilation of mahjong games released for the NEO-GEO Pocket in Japan. It brings together several titles from SNK's Super Real Mahjong series, which originally appeared on the Neo Geo arcade and home platforms. This handheld collection was likely intended to showcase the series' appeal in a portable format, though it never saw a release outside of Japan. The game is straightforward at its core: you play mahjong, a classic tile-based game of skill and strategy. The compilation includes multiple distinct mahjong scenarios, each with its own set of computer opponents and potentially different rule variations. Players select a game from a menu, then face off in a standard mahjong match. The goal is to complete a legal hand using the tiles you draw and discard. Since the NEO-GEO Pocket has a small screen, the interface is simplified but still readable. Today, Super Real Mahjong - Premium Collection is a niche piece of NEO-GEO Pocket history. It is mainly interesting for collectors of portable Neo Geo games or fans of the Super Real Mahjong franchise. If you do not read Japanese, you may struggle with the menus and tile names, but the core mahjong gameplay is universal. It is not a must-play unless you specifically enjoy retro mahjong titles or want to explore SNK's handheld library.

How to play Super Real Mahjong - Premium Collection online

Getting Started: When you first launch the game, you will see a Japanese title screen with a menu listing multiple mahjong titles. The cursor is controlled with the arrow keys; press the A button (X key) to select a game. There is no English in the menus, so take note of the order: the first entry is usually the first game in the compilation, and subsequent entries are additional games or options. Once a game starts, you will see a mahjong table with your hand of tiles at the bottom and the opponent's discards on the left. Use the d-pad to highlight a tile in your hand, then press B (S key) to discard it. The computer will draw and discard on its turns, and you can call for a win (riichi or tsumo) when your hand is complete. The goal is to build a valid mahjong hand using 14 tiles (including a winning tile). Pay attention to the tile symbols - they are traditional Japanese mahjong tiles. If you are new to Japanese mahjong, expect a steep learning curve. The game includes basic scoring but does not offer tutorials. Focus on forming melds (three of a kind or sequences) and a pair. The compilation may vary scoring rules between included games, but the core mechanics remain the same. Use the Start key (Enter) to access the pause menu, where you can adjust display settings or quit back to the title screen.
