SNK vs. Capcom - The Match of the Millennium: NGP Fighting

SNK vs. Capcom - The Match of the Millennium (World) (En,Ja) is an official crossover fighting game released for the NEO-GEO Pocket handheld system. Launched in 1999, this title brings together characters from both SNK and Capcom universes in a compact portable format. It carries the official branding and was made available in English and Japanese, catering to both the Japanese and North American markets. Playing this game involves classic 2D fighting mechanics tailored for the limited controls of the NEO-GEO Pocket. Players select from a roster of fighters drawn from SNK and Capcom franchises and engage in one-on-one battles. The gameplay emphasizes timing and strategic use of attacks within a simplified control scheme common to handheld fighters of the late 1990s, focusing on quick bouts suitable for portable play sessions. This title is worth seeking out primarily for collectors and fans of either company’s fighting game legacy who appreciate portable versions of crossover titles. Its value lies in its rarity and the novelty of experiencing a SNK vs. Capcom matchup on a handheld from that era. However, casual players might find the limited roster and pared-down mechanics less engaging compared to console entries. Still, it holds nostalgic appeal and represents an interesting snapshot of late 90s handheld fighting games.
