Getting Started

When you load the game, you'll see a title screen entirely in Japanese. Press Start to advance past the intro - use the D-Pad to navigate the menu options. The first screen typically asks you to choose a game mode: versus AI or possibly a two-player local match. Select the top option to start a standard game.

The core gameplay revolves around mahjong solitaire or a standard mahjong hand-building format. In most NGP mahjong games, you draw and discard tiles to form matching sets (melds). The Koi Koi twist here likely adds a scoring system where certain tile combinations earn bonus points, similar to the hanafuda game of the same name. Use the D-Pad to highlight tiles and the A button to confirm selections.

Since the interface is in Japanese, you may need to experiment to understand the on-screen prompts. Pay attention to the tile counter - when your hand is complete, you'll be prompted to declare a win. The computer opponent plays at a moderate pace, so take your time to learn tile patterns. If you get stuck, look for a visual cue like a flashing tile or an arrow indicating your turn.
