Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton

Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton is a side-scrolling shooter that originally appeared in arcades and on home consoles. This version was released for the NEO-GEO Pocket in Europe, bringing the witch Cotton's magical adventures to a portable screen. The game was published by SNK and fits neatly into the handheld's library of colorful action titles. You control Cotton, a young witch who flies across horizontally scrolling stages while shooting magic at waves of enemies. Collecting crystals scattered through each level powers up your attack, letting you fire more potent projectiles. The game throws a mix of small foes and larger bosses at you, requiring quick reflexes and pattern recognition to survive. Each stage ends with a confrontation against a screen-filling boss that tests your dodging skills. This NGP port captures the core feel of the arcade original within the limitations of the small screen. It stands as a decent example of the shoot 'em up genre on a platform that had few such titles. While not as deep as its console cousins, it offers solid pick-up-and-play action for short sessions. Fans of Cotton or handheld shooters from that era will find it a neat piece to try, though it remains a niche entry in the series' history.
