How to play Dungeon Explorer online
When you start the game, you are first asked to choose one of eight characters. Each character has different stats and a unique special ability. Pick one that fits your playstyle - warriors are strong in close combat, while wizards rely on magic. After selecting, you appear in a hub town. From here you can buy equipment, talk to townspeople for hints, and enter dungeons. The core loop is exploring dungeons, fighting enemies in real time, collecting items and money, and returning to town to level up your gear and stats. Use the D-pad to move, press S to swing your weapon or cast spells, and press X to jump or confirm menu choices. You can also bring up a menu with Select to equip items, use potions, or check your status.
One important mechanic is the experience system: you gain levels by defeating enemies, which raises your attack power, defense, and HP. Dungeons are filled with traps, locked doors that require keys, and bosses that demand smart use of items. The game supports up to five players simultaneously; if you have friends, you can plug in more controllers and tackle the adventure together. When playing solo, be prepared to grind a bit to keep your character strong enough for later areas. Save your progress often by visiting the save point in town. Keep an eye on your gear - buying better swords and armor makes a huge difference.

Dungeon Explorer FAQ
Who developed Dungeon Explorer?
Dungeon Explorer was developed by Atlus. The game was co-directed by Kazutoshi Ueda and Yōsuke Niino, and many of the same team members would later work on other Atlus projects. Hudson Soft published the original Japanese version, while NEC handled the North American release.
Is Dungeon Explorer exclusive to NEC TURBOGRAFX-16 or did it appear on other systems?
The game first appeared on the NEC TurboGrafx-16 (and its Japanese equivalent, the PC Engine). Later, it was ported to Japanese home computers like the FM Towns and PC-98. It has also been re-released on modern platforms as part of compilations such as the TurboGrafx-16 Mini.
Does Dungeon Explorer have a multiplayer or co-op mode?
Yes, Dungeon Explorer supports up to five players simultaneously in cooperative play. All players explore the same dungeons and fight enemies together, sharing the screen. This local co-op feature was a standout aspect of the game when it was originally released.
