Benkei Gaiden (Japan)

Getting started in Benkei Gaiden is straightforward. After booting the ROM, you will see the title screen; press Enter to start. The game uses Japanese text throughout, so menu navigation relies on recognizing select/start prompts. The core loop involves moving from left to right across side-scrolling stages, defeating enemies and avoiding hazards. Your character attacks with the B button and jumps with the A button.

Pay attention to your health bar at the top of the screen, and collect any power-ups or items you find. Dying will restart the current stage, but you have unlimited continues. The game follows standard genre conventions of the era: reach the end of each stage, defeat a boss, then move to the next area. If you get stuck, try exploring different paths or using special attacks if available.
