NBA Courtside 2 featuring Kobe Bryant hit the Nintendo 64 in 2000, exclusively in North America. Published by Nintendo and developed by Left Field Productions, this basketball sim was the sequel to the original NBA Courtside. It arrived late in the N64's life, when the system's library was already packed with sports titles, but it stood apart by putting Kobe Bryant on the cover at the height of his early stardom. The game runs on the standard N64 cartridge format and supports one or two players.

How to play NBA Courtside 2 featuring Kobe Bryant online

Getting Started

When you boot up NBA Courtside 2, you are dropped into the main menu. Your first move is to select a game mode. Exhibition mode lets you pick two NBA teams and play a single game. Season mode runs a full NBA schedule, tracking stats and standings. You can also practice free throws or dive into a playoffs bracket. Use the D-Pad to highlight options and press the A button (X on keyboard) to confirm.

Once you are on the court, the core loop is simple: inbound the ball, run plays, pass to open teammates, and shoot when you have a clean look. Defense means staying between your man and the basket, swatting shots, and grabbing rebounds. Each team has a playbook you can pull up with the R shoulder button (E on keyboard). The game simulates five-on-five basketball, so positioning and timing matter more than button mashing. Try a few exhibition games to get comfortable before jumping into the longer season mode.
