Getting started: When you boot up Pro Baseball Fan, you are greeted with a Japanese menu. The first screen likely offers exhibition or season modes, but without knowledge of the language you may need to trial-and-error. Start by pressing Enter or the A button (X) to advance through menus. In-game, you control a full team of nine players. The core loop involves batting, pitching, and fielding, with each action mapped to the controller. Batting requires timing your swing with the pitch, while pitching lets you choose the type and location of each throw. Fielding is automatic to some degree, but you can move fielders with the D-pad and throw to bases using the appropriate button. The game includes realistic rules (strikes, balls, outs) and a scoreboard that tracks runs inning by inning. If you are unfamiliar with baseball, the basics are the same as any standard simulation: try to score more runs than the opponent over nine innings. Expect Japanese text throughout, so memorizing menu positions helps.
