Gekitotsu Pennant Race 2 is a baseball simulation game for the MSX 2 home computer, originally released only in Japan. It is part of the Pennant Race series, known for its detailed sports gameplay. The exact developer and release year are not widely documented, but the game represents the classic era of Japanese computer baseball sims. The player controls a baseball team through a full season, managing batting, pitching, and fielding. You select pitches, time swings, and make strategic decisions during games. The interface is entirely in Japanese, which can be a barrier but also adds authenticity for fans of the era. The game uses keyboard or controller inputs to navigate menus and execute plays. For MSX enthusiasts, Gekitotsu Pennant Race 2 offers a solid example of sports simulation on the platform. Its depth and Konami-like polish make it worth trying, though it remains a niche title. If you enjoy retro baseball games or the MSX library, this is a good pick for its period-accurate presentation.

How to play Gekitotsu Pennant Race 2 online

Getting Started: To begin, load the game in an MSX 2 emulator. You will see a title screen in Japanese. Press Start to proceed to the main menu, where you can choose between exhibition mode and season mode. Use the D-Pad to highlight options and confirm with the A button (X key). The core gameplay involves pitching and batting. When pitching, select a type and location using the controls, then throw. When batting, time your swing with the A button as the ball approaches. Fielding is mostly automatic, but you may need to move fielders with the D-Pad. The game keeps track of scores and stats throughout the season. Because menus are entirely in Japanese, you may need to experiment to understand team selection and settings. A useful tip: pressing the B button (S key) often cancels or goes back. Practice the controls in exhibition mode before diving into a full season.
