Super Lode Runner II (Japan) (Disk Writer)
What is Super Lode Runner II (Japan) (Disk Writer)?
Super Lode Runner II is a Famicom Disk System puzzle-platformer that hit shelves in Japan in 1987. Published by Irem, this sequel to the original Lode Runner brings the same dig-and-collect action to Nintendo's disk-based add-on. Because it was a Disk Writer release, owners could rewrite the game onto blank disks at special kiosks, making it a unique entry in the FDS library.
How to Play Super Lode Runner II (Japan) (Disk Writer) Online
Getting Started
You control a runner whose goal is to collect all the gold bars in each puzzle-like stage. Use the D-Pad to move left and right, and press the B button to dig a hole in front of you. Enemies called "guards" patrol each level; you can trap them in holes temporarily, but they will climb out after a few seconds. Press the A button to jump over holes or onto platforms.
The game displays its menus entirely in Japanese. At the title screen, press Start to begin a new game, then select a stage from the level select list using the D-Pad and confirm with A. There are 50 stages total, and completing a stage unlocks the next one. Each stage has a strict time limit, so move efficiently. If you touch a guard or run out of time, you lose a life and restart the stage.
The core loop is simple: clear a stage by grabbing all gold, then move on to the next. Some stages introduce ladders and ropes that require careful planning. Use the Select button to switch between items if available, though the default inventory is usually enough. Practice makes perfect - memorize guard patterns and dig strategically to avoid dead ends.
