City Connection (set 1)

City Connection (set 1): arcade Platformer

City Connection is a 1985 platform game that Jaleco brought to arcades. It also hit North American shores under the name Cruisin', published by Kitkorp. You take the wheel of a Honda City hatchback driven by Clarice, zipping across elevated roads in a sideways-scrolling maze. The whole thing wears its Pac-Man and Make Trax inspirations on its sleeve, swapping pellets for paint and ghosts for cops.

How to Play City Connection (set 1) Online

Getting Started

When the game boots up you choose a stage and hop into Clarice's car. Your goal is to paint every horizontal section of the road by driving over it before time runs out. Each completed section turns from gray to a solid color, and once the whole road is painted a new one appears.

The cops are relentless - they spawn from the sides and chase you in zigzag patterns. Tap the jump key to lay down an oil can that stuns them for a few seconds. You can only carry one can at a time, so use it wisely. Running over a stunned cop briefly clears the screen and gives you breathing room. Miss the timing and a single touch sends you back to the start of the current road segment, costing precious time.

The core loop is simple: drive, dodge, paint, repeat. Later stages introduce narrower roads and more aggressive police, demanding quicker reflexes and tighter oil-can placement. There's no score attack mode - just survival and completing each stage within the countdown. If you burn through all your continues, it's game over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who developed City Connection?
Jaleco handled both development and original Japanese publishing. In North America the game was released by Kitkorp under the title Cruisin', but the code and design stayed Jaleco's work.
Roughly how long does it take to finish City Connection?
A single loop through all stages takes about fifteen to twenty minutes once you know the patterns. The challenge comes from the limited continues and the escalating police speed, so first-timers might need several attempts before seeing the ending.
Does City Connection have a multiplayer or co-op mode?
No, the arcade board runs only in single-player. There is no two-player simultaneous mode, nor any alternating play option. Each credit buys one solo run through the roads.
