Super Shinobi II, The (Japan)
About Super Shinobi II, The (Japan)
The Super Shinobi II is the Japanese version of what Western gamers know as The Revenge of Shinobi, released exclusively for the SEGA Genesis in 1989. Published by Sega and developed in-house, this side-scrolling action game puts you in the role of the ninja Joe Musashi. It's a pure, no-filler arcade-style experience that defined the early Genesis library. If you only played the Western release, note that this version has some minor differences in enemy sprites due to licensing issues, but the core game is identical.
How to Play Super Shinobi II, The (Japan) Online
Getting Started
The Super Shinobi II is a straightforward action platformer. You control Joe Musashi through eight stages, each ending with a boss. Use the D-Pad to move left or right and climb ladders. Press the attack button to throw shurikens or slash with your sword when enemies are close. Jumping is essential for avoiding projectiles and reaching higher platforms.
As you progress, you can collect power-up icons that grant special ninjutsu magic (like shield or lightning) or simply replenish health. The game is challenging, with enemies coming from all sides. Keep moving and use jump attacks to stay safe. Each boss has a pattern - learn it and you'll prevail.
Since this is the Japanese version, the menus and text are entirely in Japanese. Navigating the title screen is simple: press Start to begin, and use the D-Pad to select options if needed. The core gameplay is purely action-driven, so language won't be a barrier once you're in the game.
