Getting started: When you boot up the game, you'll see the classic Mortal Kombat title screen. Press Enter to start and you'll be taken to the character select screen. The core loop is a series of one-on-one fights. You face opponents in a bracketed tournament, and after each victory you move up to the next match. The goal is to defeat all opponents and reach the final boss, Shang Tsung. The hack restores the blood effects, so you'll see more splatter during hits and fatalities. There's no story mode beyond the arcade ladder - it's all about the fights.

Important mechanics: Each character has a block button (A on keyboard), and you can perform special moves by inputting specific directions and button combinations. Fatalities are only possible after the announcer says "Finish Him/Her!" and require a specific button sequence near the opponent. The translation fix means menus and text are in English, so navigation is straightforward. Try the practice mode first to get comfortable with your character's moveset before diving into the tournament.
