Ecco - The Tides of Time (Europe)
Ecco - The Tides of Time (Europe) Overview
Ecco: The Tides of Time is the direct sequel to the original Ecco the Dolphin, released for the SEGA Genesis in 1994. It was developed by Appaloosa Interactive and published by Sega. This European version is the same as the worldwide release, an official title that picks up right where the first game left off. The genre blends action, adventure, and puzzle-solving with an underwater setting that was unique for its time.
How to Play Ecco - The Tides of Time (Europe) Online
Getting started is straightforward: you control Ecco the dolphin through a series of side-scrolling underwater levels. The game begins with a short story sequence explaining that Ecco must again rescue his pod and navigate strange new threats. Use the arrow keys to swim in any direction, and press the X button to perform a sonar burst that can stun enemies or activate objects.
The core gameplay involves exploring each level to find key items, solve puzzles, and defeat hostile sea creatures. Unlike the first game, Tides of Time introduces time travel elements and more complex level designs. You can also transform into other forms at certain points, which alters movement and abilities. Take your time exploring, as some paths require backtracking.
Aim to locate the exit portal in each level while collecting glyphs that unlock the true ending. The controls are responsive, but the difficulty can spike suddenly. Save often, as the game does not have a mid-level save feature. If you get lost, remember that sonar pulses can reveal hidden passages and enemies.
