Getting Started

This is a hacked version of Sonic CD for the SEGA CD. The core gameplay is the same as the original: you run through 2D levels at high speed, collect rings, defeat enemies, and reach the goal. The major difference is that the order of the zones has been changed. When you start a new game, you'll encounter stages in a sequence that is different from the official release.

Your first step is to press Start (Enter) on the title screen. Use the D-Pad to select a save slot and begin. The game does not have a tutorial, so familiarize yourself with the controls quickly. The A button (X) makes Sonic jump; holding it down while jumping performs a spin dash. The B button (S) is used to run faster when you have momentum. You can also destroy badniks by jumping on them. The time travel posts (blue or red signs) let you shift between time periods - past, present, and future - by building up speed near them. This mechanic is still fully functional in the mod.

Because the level order is scrambled, you may find yourself in a stage that originally appeared later in the game. Don't be surprised if difficulty spikes appear earlier than expected. The mod does not alter the stage layouts themselves, only their placement. If you are stuck, remember that you can revisit earlier zones through the level select if you have a save file. The goal remains to collect the Time Stones or defeat the final boss, but the path to get there is now unpredictable.
