Your first step is to press Start (Enter) on the title screen. Use the D-Pad to select a save slot and begin. The game does not have a tutorial, so familiarize yourself with the controls quickly. The A button (X) makes Sonic jump; holding it down while jumping performs a spin dash. The B button (S) is used to run faster when you have momentum. You can also destroy badniks by jumping on them.
