Cliffhanger
About Cliffhanger
Cliffhanger on the SEGA CD is a beat 'em up platformer based on the 1993 Sylvester Stallone film of the same name. It was developed by Malibu Interactive and published by Sony Imagesoft, hitting shelves in 1993 alongside versions for the SNES and Sega Genesis. This SEGA CD release made use of the platform's enhanced audio and CD-ROM storage for digitized speech and a redbook audio soundtrack, though the core game remained similar to its cartridge counterparts.

Getting Started
You take control of mountain climber Gabe Walker as he fights through several stages inspired by the movie's snowy peaks and caves. The core loop is straightforward: move left to right, punch and kick enemies, and avoid falling into chasms. Each level ends with a boss encounter, often a henchman or a environmental hazard like a collapsing bridge.
Your health bar is shown at the top of the screen. Collecting food items scattered around restores some health. You can also grab weapons like knives and rocks to deal extra damage. The game uses a simple lives system: lose all health and you'll continue from the start of the stage, but you have a limited number of continues. Learning enemy patterns and jumping carefully during platform sections is key to survival.
