Clock Tower

Clock Tower is a survival horror game that was released for the PlayStation in 1997, developed by Human Entertainment. This title is part of a series that originally began on the Super Famicom, and it has since become a cult classic among horror game enthusiasts. The PlayStation version retains the eerie atmosphere and unique gameplay elements that made the series notable, while also catering to the growing audience of 3D gaming in the late 90s. In Clock Tower, players take on the role of Jennifer, a young girl trying to escape a sinister mansion while being pursued by a relentless killer known as Scissorman. The gameplay focuses on exploration and puzzle-solving, with an emphasis on stealth and evasion rather than direct combat. Players must navigate through various rooms, solve environmental puzzles, and avoid encounters with Scissorman, who can be quite unpredictable. The game’s unique point-and-click interface allows for a more immersive experience, making every decision critical for survival. This title is worth trying today for its nostalgic value and its influence on the horror genre. Clock Tower stands out due to its atmospheric storytelling and the tension it builds through limited resources and the constant threat of danger. While it may not have the same level of recognition as titles like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, its unique mechanics and chilling ambiance offer a different flavor of horror that many fans of the genre can appreciate, especially those interested in the evolution of horror gaming on the PlayStation platform.
