Dragon Slayer - The Legend of Heroes

Getting started is straightforward for anyone familiar with classic Japanese RPGs. You control a party of adventurers exploring an overworld map, visiting towns to gather information, buy equipment, and rest at inns. The core loop involves traveling between locations, engaging in turn-based battles with random encounters, and gradually leveling up your characters to tackle stronger enemies and progress the story.

Since this is the Japanese TurboGrafx-CD version, all menus and dialogue are in Japanese. If you cannot read the language, you will need to rely on pattern recognition, trial and error, or a fan translation guide. Pay attention to visual cues in shops (like price lists) and use the cancel button to back out of menus if you get lost. The game does not have a modern quest marker, so talking to every NPC is essential to know where to go next.

Save your progress frequently at inns or save points - the game does not autosave, and death can send you back to your last save. Grinding is sometimes necessary to afford new gear or survive boss fights, so expect to spend some time fighting random battles.
