Wardner no Mori (Japan)
Inside Wardner no Mori (Japan)
Wardner no Mori is a side-scrolling action game released for the Famicom Disk System in Japan. It is the FDS adaptation of the arcade game Wardner (also known as Wardner's Forest), originally developed by Taito. The FDS version was published by Taito and brings the arcade's run-and-gun platforming to a home console audience. This is an official release, not a hack or fan translation, so the menus and text are entirely in Japanese.
How to Play Wardner no Mori (Japan) Online
When you start the game, the title screen appears in Japanese. Press Start to begin the main game. You control a boy who moves through forest and cave stages, shooting at enemies and jumping over obstacles. The core loop is straightforward: progress to the right, defeat enemies, collect power-ups (like the 'P' item that changes your shot), and survive until the stage ends with a boss fight.
New players should know that the controls are responsive, but the game can be tough. The B button shoots in the direction you are facing, and you can also shoot while jumping. There is no continues, so you must finish the game in one sitting. The disk system saves high scores, but not progress. If you can't read Japanese, the only menu option you need is the bottom one (Start).
