Inside Ultraman Club - Chikyuu Dakkan Sakusen

Ultraman Club - Chikyuu Dakkan Sakusen is a side-scrolling action game released exclusively for the Famicom Disk System in 1989. Published by Bandai, this title is part of the Ultraman Club series and brings the iconic Japanese superhero to Nintendo's disk-based platform. The game was never released outside of Japan, making it a niche curiosity for retro collectors and Ultraman fans alike. You control Ultraman through a series of horizontally scrolling stages, fighting familiar monsters from the television series. The core gameplay revolves around running, jumping, and using melee attacks to defeat enemies. Special moves can be performed by pressing the B button at the right moment, and each stage culminates in a boss battle against a major kaiju. The health bar and limited continues add a layer of challenge, requiring careful resource management. This title stands out for its faithful adaptation of the Ultraman aesthetic, with sprite work that captures the look of the suit and monsters. The music and sound effects take advantage of the FDS's wavetable synthesis, giving the game a distinct audio personality. While not as polished as major platformers of the era, it offers a solid arcade-style experience that will appeal to those curious about Japan-exclusive Famicom games or the Ultraman franchise. It is a straightforward but enjoyable action game that rewards practice.
