About Time Twist - Rekishi no Katasumi de... - Kouhen

Time Twist - Rekishi no Katasumi de... - Kouhen is the second half of a text-driven adventure game released for the Famicom Disk System in 1991, exclusively in Japan. The title translates to "Time Twist - In a Corner of History... - Latter Half". It fell near the end of the FDS commercial library, when Nintendo and third parties were already shifting focus to cartridge-based games. Details about its development team remain scant in English sources, but the game itself is a fairly ambitious narrative experiment for the platform. You control a character who travels through different historical eras by solving puzzles and making dialogue choices. The interface uses a point-and-click cursor to examine objects, talk to characters, and pick up items that are stored in an inventory. Progress is saved directly to the disk, which was a notable feature for FDS games. The story continues directly from the first disk, so you are expected to have played or know the events of "Zenpen" to follow the plot. For retro gamers interested in narrative-heavy FDS titles, Time Twist offers a unique time-travel theme that was uncommon on the system. Its reliance on text and static screens means it feels closer to an early PC adventure than most console games of the era. The disk swapping between halves is a minor hassle, but the game's historical settings and branching conversations give it a distinct charm among Japanese-exclusive Famicom releases.

Menus and dialogue are entirely in Japanese, with no English patch widely available. To navigate menus, use the D-pad to highlight options and press X to confirm. S cancels or goes back. Keep an eye on the bottom text box for prompts. Saving happens automatically when you reach certain points, but you can also manually save at specific save points indicated by a disk icon.
