Idol Hotline - Nakayama Miho no Tokimeki High School

Idol Hotline - Nakayama Miho no Tokimeki High School is a Famicom Disk System title from the late 1980s that puts you in the shoes of a high school student who can call up the real-life Japanese idol Nakayama Miho. It is a Japan-exclusive release, typical of the FDS' library of experimental simulation and adventure games that leveraged celebrity tie-ins. The exact developer and publisher remain unclear, but the game is a product of the era when idol culture was booming in Japan. Players navigate a standard high school life through text menus and choices, with the core hook being the ability to dial a hotline to speak with Nakayama Miho. The gameplay revolves around managing daily activities, attending classes, and building a relationship with the idol through phone conversations. Since the game is entirely in Japanese, understanding the language is important for following the story and making correct decisions that affect the outcome. This title is worth checking out for its sheer curiosity as a piece of Japanese pop culture from the FDS era. It offers a glimpse into the early days of idol simulation games, predating more famous dating sims. While it is simple and niche, its rarity and unique premise make it a fun discovery for retro collectors interested in FDS oddities or 80s Japanese media tie-ins.
