Getting Started

Once you load the game, the title screen will appear. Press Enter to start, then select a save slot or choose the character (Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles). The game follows the same structure as Sonic 3 & Knuckles: you run from left to right through zones, collecting rings, defeating enemies, and reaching the end of each act to face a boss. But here, every boss has been reworked to be much tougher. Expect new attack patterns, faster movements, and more health.

The core loop is the same as the original: explore each zone, collect rings (they protect you from one hit), grab shields and power-ups, and find the giant ring to enter special stages for Chaos Emeralds. The key difference is the bosses. You'll need to learn each new pattern, dodge relentlessly, and strike at the right moment. The hack doesn't change the levels themselves, so map knowledge from the original still applies.

If you're a newcomer, start with Sonic (balanced speed and jump) and be patient. The difficulty spike is immediate. Use the D-Pad to move, X to jump, and S to spin dash (hold down and press S, then release). The B button is your primary attack when rolling into enemies. Keep an eye on your rings; with zero rings, anything kills you. The game saves progress, but you can also use the in-game level select if you're stuck on a particular boss.
