Radical Rex (Europe)
Radical Rex (Europe) - Platformer Classic
Radical Rex is a platform game that landed on the SEGA Genesis in 1994, originally developed by Beam Software and published for the European market. It's essentially a remake of the 1993 Game Boy title Baby T-Rex, scaled up for 16-bit consoles. If you've played the SNES or Sega CD versions, this one plays similarly but with its own feel on Sega's hardware. It belongs to that early-mid 90s wave of mascot platformers, though Rex isn't quite as famous as Sonic or Mario.
How to Play Radical Rex (Europe) Online
You start each level with a small dinosaur named Rex who can run, jump, and use a tail whip to defeat enemies. The core loop is straightforward: move from left to right, avoid or stomp on baddies, collect fruit and other items for points, and reach the end flag. Watch out for pits and spikes, because one hit sends you back to the last checkpoint (or the start of the level if you haven't passed one).
There are a few power-ups hidden in eggs that give you temporary abilities like fire breath or increased speed. You can also discover secret areas by smashing certain blocks. The game doesn't hold your hand, so learning enemy patterns and level layouts is key. If you've played any other 16-bit platformer from the era, you'll get the hang of it quickly, but don't expect any fancy mechanics beyond the basics.
