Earthworm Jim 2 (Europe)
Inside Earthworm Jim 2 (Europe)
Earthworm Jim 2 is the wacky sequel to the original Earthworm Jim, a side-scrolling platformer that hit the SEGA Genesis in 1995. Developed by Shiny Entertainment and published by Virgin Interactive for the European market, this game carries forward the same over-the-top animation and sense of humor that made the first title a cult hit. It arrived during the peak of the 16-bit era, when platformers were everywhere but few matched this one's sheer weirdness and fluid sprite work.
How to Play Earthworm Jim 2 (Europe) Online
You start each level controlling Earthworm Jim, a worm in a super-suit. Your main tools are a run button (S) and a jump button (X). Use the D-Pad to move left, right, and look up or down. The core loop is simple: traverse the level from left to right, avoiding pits and hazards, while using Jim's whip (the attack button) to defeat enemies or swing from hooks. Along the way you'll collect gems, extra lives, and power-ups that can change how Jim behaves, like the "Heavy" suit that slows him down but makes him crush enemies.
The game is structured into a series of themed stages, each introducing a new gimmick. For example, one level has you riding a rocket through a cave, another turns Jim into a tiny version of himself navigating a household. There is no precise jump height control; instead, you hold the jump button to execute a full jump. Pay attention to level-specific cues like moving platforms, spikes, and instant-death pits. If you run out of lives, you'll restart the level from the beginning, but there are some hidden extra lives scattered around. A password system allows you to continue from the start of a world, but there is no mid-level save.
