Burning Force (Japan)
Burning Force (Japan) on Genesis
Burning Force is a shoot-em-up for the Sega Genesis, released exclusively in Japan in the early 1990s. It was published by Sega, though the original arcade game was developed by Namco. This home version retains the horizontal scrolling action of the coin-op, tailoring it for the 16-bit console. The game's setting is the Earth Space Academy, where you train as a cadet pilot.
How to Play Burning Force (Japan) Online
Getting Started
When you start Burning Force, you control Hiromi, a trainee at the Earth Space Academy. The game is a horizontally scrolling shooter: your ship moves left and right while enemies approach from the right side of the screen. Shoot them down and dodge their fire. The academy training spans six days, each day representing a different stage.
The core loop involves flying through each level, collecting power-ups that enhance your weapon, and defeating a boss at the end. Your health bar depletes when hit, and losing all lives results in a game over. Since this is a Japanese-only release, menus are in Japanese, but the gameplay is straightforward: press Start to begin, then use the D-pad to move and the B button to shoot. Experiment with the A button for any alternative actions, like a bomb if equipped.
