Getting Started

When you boot up Taisen-gata Daisenryaku G, you'll see a Japanese menu screen. The first option usually starts a new game, and the second might load a saved game. Without knowing Japanese, you can try selecting the top option and then picking a scenario - typical Daisenryaku games let you choose different historical or fictional conflicts. Once in a battle, you'll see a map with your units represented by icons or colored squares.

The core loop is familiar to anyone who's played turn-based strategy: you move each unit one at a time, attack enemies in range, and try to capture the enemy headquarters or defeat all opposing forces. Use the D-Pad to navigate the map, press the A button (X key) to select a unit, and then choose an action like move, attack, or wait. The B button (S key) often cancels or brings up additional commands. Menus are all in Japanese, so be ready to experiment - you might accidentally end a turn early, but that's part of the learning curve.

Pay attention to unit types: infantry, tanks, artillery, and aircraft each have strengths and weaknesses. Terrain like forests or rivers affects movement and defense. Save your game often using the save option in the menu (likely the third or fourth option). Since the game is in Japanese, a guide or translation app can help with unit stats and mission objectives. It's slow-paced but rewarding once you get the hang of the interface.
