Devilish (USA)
Devilish (USA) - Arcade Classic
Devilish for the Sega Game Gear is an occult-themed Arkanoid clone that originally came out around the early 1990s. It also appeared on the Sega Genesis, but this portable version brought the same paddle-and-ball action to a smaller screen. The game leans hard into horror imagery and a satanic vibe, which was unusual for what's basically a brick-breaking arcade game.
How to Play Devilish (USA) Online
Getting Started
When you boot up Devilish, you control a paddle at the bottom of the screen. The goal is to break all the bricks in each stage by bouncing a ball off the paddle. You move the paddle left and right using the D-Pad. Press the A button to release the ball at the start of a round or after losing a life.
The game adds a spooky twist with backgrounds featuring skulls, demons, and gothic architecture, but the core loop is classic Arkanoid. Power-ups appear when you break certain bricks - catch them with your paddle to increase ball speed, widen the paddle, or get extra balls. Watch out for enemies or hazards that might drop down from the top of the screen; you lose a life if the ball falls past your paddle.
Devilish is straightforward: clear each screen of blocks to advance to the next stage. There's no save feature, so you'll need to finish a session in one sitting or use the emulator's save state. The game is in English, so menus and instructions are easy to follow.
