Getting Started
When you start Cosmic Spacehead, you'll see a title screen then a brief story intro. Press Start (Enter) to begin. You control Linus from an overhead view at first. Walk around using the D-Pad (Arrow Keys) and interact with objects or people by pressing the A button (X). This is your main way to pick up items and talk to characters. The B button (S) lets you run, which is handy for covering ground faster but watch out for enemies that might bump into you.
The core loop is simple: explore each area, find the right item or talk to the right alien, then head to a platforming section to reach a new location. The platforming parts switch to a side view - you jump with A (X) and can run with B (S). Some sections have gaps or moving platforms, and a few enemies you can avoid or maybe bump into. Don't stress about dying; you restart at the beginning of that section with your progress saved regarding items you've collected.
A key tip: if you're stuck in the adventure portion, try going back to areas you've already visited after picking up a new item - it might open a door or let you trade with an NPC. Also keep an eye on the top of the screen for your score and lives, though lives are pretty generous. The game saves your progress automatically when you complete a section, so you can jump back in later.
