Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters (USA) is an action game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988. Developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Activision, it captures the essence of the iconic Ghostbusters franchise. Players step into the shoes of the Ghostbusters team, aiming to capture ghosts and save New York City from supernatural chaos, all while navigating the challenges typical of games from this era. In the game, players manage the Ghostbusters' operations, including purchasing equipment, driving around the city, and capturing ghosts. The gameplay is structured around a mix of strategic resource management and action scenes where players confront and capture various ghosts. The unique blend of overhead city exploration and side-scrolling action makes for a distinctive experience, though it can be quite challenging, especially for newcomers. Despite its age, Ghostbusters (USA) remains a nostalgic piece for many retro gaming fans. While it may not have the polish of some contemporary titles, its quirky charm and connection to the beloved franchise offer a unique experience. For those looking to explore the roots of action games from the late '80s, this title is worth a try, especially if you enjoy classic games that mix strategy with action in a fun, albeit sometimes frustrating, way.
