WWF Superstars 2 (USA, Europe) is a wrestling game released for the Game Boy, developed by the team behind the original WWF Superstars. It came out during the early 1990s, a time when portable gaming was starting to gain traction. As part of the sports genre, it aimed to capture the excitement of professional wrestling in a compact format, allowing fans to engage with their favorite wrestlers on the go. In the game, players take control of various wrestlers, each with unique moves and abilities. Matches take place in a ring where you can perform a range of attacks, grapples, and special moves. The mechanics are straightforward, focusing on timing and strategy rather than complex combos, which was a common design choice for games of that era. Players can compete in single-player modes or against friends, making it a fun title for both solo and multiplayer experiences. Today, WWF Superstars 2 holds a certain charm for fans of retro gaming and wrestling. While it may not have the depth or variety of later wrestling titles, it provides a nostalgic glimpse into the wrestling games of the early 90s. Its simplicity makes it accessible, and it’s a nice addition to any Game Boy collection, especially for those who appreciate the history of video game adaptations of popular sports and entertainment franchises.
