Mean 18 Ultimate Golf is a sports simulation that brings golf to the Atari 7800. It was released in the USA as part of the console's library, and is an official commercial release. The game focuses on realistic golf gameplay, letting players tee off on multiple 18-hole courses. In a typical round, you select a club, aim your shot, then time your swing using a power meter. Wind direction, terrain slope, and lie condition all affect each shot. After reaching the green, you putt using a similar meter system. The game tracks strokes and offers standard stroke play scoring. For its era, Mean 18 Ultimate Golf offers a solid golf experience on the Atari 7800. It's a niche title compared to arcade games, but worth trying if you enjoy simulation sports games. The multiple courses and simple yet effective swing mechanic hold up decently today for retro golf fans.
