Captain Commando (911202 Japan)
What is Captain Commando (911202 Japan)?
Captain Commando hit arcades in 1991, developed and published by Capcom for their CP System hardware. This beat 'em up stars the company's own mascot, originally a fictional spokesman for Capcom USA in the late 1980s. The Japanese version, identified by the "911202" code on the title screen, is the one you'll find here on the site. It's a straightforward arcade brawler from Capcom's golden era, built on the same hardware that powered Street Fighter II and many other classics.
How to Play Captain Commando (911202 Japan) Online
Getting Started
You control Captain Commando as he moves left to right through stages, fighting waves of enemies. The core loop is simple: walk forward, punch and kick foes, use special attacks when you have enough energy, and grab food items to restore health. Each stage ends with a boss battle that requires pattern recognition and quick reflexes.
This is a Japanese ROM, so menus and text are in Japanese. Navigation is straightforward though: press Start to begin, then use the D-Pad and attack buttons to select your character (though Captain is the only playable hero). The game supports up to two players simultaneously, so grab a friend for co-op action. There is no continues by default in the arcade original, but the emulator may allow savestates.
Special moves are performed by pressing attack and jump together, or by tapping the attack button rapidly. Experiment with the controls to find Captain's throwing move and dash attack. The key to survival is crowd control - don't let enemies surround you.
