Bosconian (old version)
Bosconian (old version) Overview
Bosconian is a 1981 arcade shooter from Namco, originally released in Japan and brought to North America by Midway. It's a multidirectional shooter, meaning your ship can move in eight directions while firing both forward and backward. This 'old version' retains the original coin-op feel, with its distinctive vector-like graphics (though drawn with raster sprites) and a simple but addictive loop.
How to Play Bosconian (old version) Online
Getting Started
Your goal in Bosconian is to destroy all enemy bases and missiles on each stage while avoiding hostile fire. You control a ship that can thrust in any direction and fire from both the front and rear simultaneously. The game uses a radar display at the bottom to show enemy positions, so keep an eye on it.
Start by pressing Enter for coin, then V to start. Use the Arrow Keys to move around the screen. Press X or S to fire - either works for shooting. The core loop is simple: clear each wave of enemies and bases, survive, and score points. Watch for the large missile bases that launch homing missiles; destroy those first to make life easier.
There's no continues, so every life counts. Learn enemy patterns and use the radar to plan your approach. The screen wraps around, so you can exit on one side and reappear on the opposite - use that to escape or flank enemies. It's a fast-paced game but forgiving enough to learn quickly.
