Battlantis (program code F)
Inside Battlantis (program code F)
Battlantis is a fixed shooter arcade game released by Konami in July 1987. A portmanteau of 'Battle of Atlantis', it originally ran on Konami's arcade hardware. This particular version is labeled 'program code F', likely a specific ROM revision found in some cabinets.
You take control of Cripeuss III, defending a castle against Asmodeus and waves of monsters. Enemy formations move in patterns reminiscent of Space Invaders and Galaga, with some diving down to the bottom of the screen. Occasionally, two monsters carry an ark across the screen; shoot it to drop a powerup that temporarily boosts your shot. When enemies reach the bottom row, they fly sideways toward your character.
It's a straightforward but polished take on the classic fixed shooter formula, with colorful graphics and a satisfying powerup mechanic. For fans of 80s arcade shooters, it's a solid entry that captures the era's quarter-munching challenge. Not a revolutionary title, but a competent one that shows Konami's skill with the genre.
How to Play Battlantis (program code F) Online
To start, press Enter to insert a coin, then V for Start (or press the assigned start key). The game will begin with Cripeuss III at the bottom of the screen.
Your goal is to shoot all enemies in each wave. Move left/right with Arrow Keys and fire with the designated attack button (usually S). Watch for the ark carriers - shooting them drops a powerful shot upgrade.
If enemies reach the bottom, they will swoop sideways toward you; dodge or shoot them quickly. The game continues until you lose all lives. There are no continues, typical for arcade games of the era.
